FAIRFIELD, CT (December 6) - The Sacred Heart University women's swimming team ended the fall semester swimming schedule with a dual meet at Fairfield University against the Stags and Siena College. The Pioneers fell to Fairfield 79-35 and Siena 71-42.

The Pioneers were a scant three points behind Siena heading into the 1-meter diving event, however Sacred Heart was unable to match the depth of Saints as they pulled away late.

Despite the loss, SHU swimmers posted nine season-best times. Krystina Eikeseth and Brianne Ryan both dropped 17 seconds in the 800 Freestyle event, with times of 9:53.15 and 10:40.62 finishing second and fourth respectively. In addition, Eikeseth battled back in the 100 Butterfly to finish with a time of 1:12.31 for another second place finish. Adriana Morgan had a season best time of 2:19.37 in the 200 Freestyle, and swam a tight race in the 400 Freestyle tying for second with a time of 4:51.10. Other season bests came from Angela Koenig with a time of 1:14.41 in the 100 Backstroke and Karen Gandley who swam the 100 breaststroke in 1:43.18 in competing in the event for the first time in her collegiate career. A nice addition to the meet came when Bethany Meagher, who has been out recovering from knee surgery, made her first appearance on the 1-meter diving board.

Sacred Heart will return to action on January 8th when they travel to Seton Hall.
