Brooklyn, NY - Freshman Laurie Casado (Queens, NY) won three events and Sacred Heart won seven events overall en-route to a win over St. Francis (NY) Friday night in Brooklyn. Sophomores Katie Marshall (Cumberland, RI), Jackie Balder (Levittown, NY) and Molly McDonald (Sag Harbor, NY) all won events in the meet.

Casado continued her impressive rookie season by placing first in the 100 yard breaststroke and 200 yard individual medley. Her 1:09.95 time in the breaststroke was two seconds better than the rest of the field.

Balder won two freestyle events. She took the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 11:10.94, 24 seconds better than any other swimmer. Her mark of 5:26.84 in the 500 yard freestyle was four seconds ahead of her closest competitor. Meanwhile, Marshall took home the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 1:01.10 and McDonald posted a 2:03.92 mark in the 200 yard freestyle to win that event.

Marshall, Casado, McDonald and Kelly Welsh (West Long Branch, NJ) all teamed up to win the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 1:59.34 to open the meet.

The Pioneers are off until December 20th when they host Siena in one of two home meets this season.
