Final Stats

STATEN ISLAND, NY (October 25, 2003) - The Sacred Heart University women's swimming team gained a split at the Wagner Invitational as the defeated St. Francis (PA) 93-89, but fell to Wagner 98-80. Seniors Christine DePierro (Cromwell, CT) and Katie Dervan (West Roxbury, MA) had one first place finish each to lead the Pioneers at the Invitational.

Dervan earned a first place finish in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 59.36 seconds and finished second in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:41.95. She also placed fourth in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 27.14 seconds.

DePierro finished first in the 500-yard freestyle (5:24.22 seconds) and placed third in the 200-yard freestyle (2:01.30 seconds). She missed second place by just .06 seconds.

Freshmen Meghan Ceglarski (Bristol, CT) and Krystina Eikeseth (Staten Island, NY) each had strong showing in their first collegiate meets. Ceglarski placed second in the 200-yard backstroke (2:36.33 seconds) while Eikeseth placed second in the 1,000-yrad freestyle (11:14.07 seconds) and third in the 200-yard butterfly (2:20.54 seconds).

The Pioneers will return to action when they host Manhattan on November 1 at the Wheeler Recreation Center at the University of Bridgeport.
