PISCATAWAY, NJ (October 26, 2009) - The Sacred Heart University swimming team competed in the Sonny Werblin Invite at Rutgers University this weekend.  The top competitor for the Pioneers was junior Katie Marshall (Cumberland, RI/Saint Mary Academy-Bay View), placing third in the 200-fly in 2:11.09.  She also finished ninth in the 100-fly in 1:01.65.

 

Sophomore Laurie Casado (Queens, NY/The Mary Louise Academy) placed fourth in the 100-breaststroke with a time of 1:09.83.  Freshman Stephanie Walters (Wanaque, NY/Lakeland) was a close sixth finishing in 1:11.09.


 

 

 

In the 100-freestyle, freshman Julie Wallerstein (Southbury, CT/Pomperaug) finished tenth with a time of 56.34 seconds.  Sophomore Allison Thurston (Berlin, CT/Berlin) swam the 400-individual medley in 4:58.14 to finish 18th.

 

Sacred Heart returns to action Saturday for a tri-meet at St. Francis (NY) against the Terriers and Wagner College.
