Fairfield, CT - Sophomore pitcher Megan Spehar (Thousand Oaks, CA) has been named the Northeast Conference Pitcher of the Week for the week of April 24th-30th. She is the first Pioneer pitcher to garner pitcher of the week honors this year.

Spehar tossed a complete game shutout to help the Pioneers earn a 2-0 win over Wagner, ending the Seahawks' nine-game conference winning streak. The sophomore hurler scattered eight hits and fanned five, while handing out only one free pass. Spehar worked out of trouble in the seventh when Wagner put runners on first and second to start the inning, however she induced a fly-out and struck out the next two batters looking to end the game. The win was Spehar's team-leading sixth victory of the season. She leads the Pioneers with 86.2 innings pitched and 84 strikeouts.

The Pioneers close out their season this weekend, hosting St. Francis (PA) and Robert Morris at Pioneer Park.
