Fairfield, CT - The Sacred Heart softball team recently met with a group of eighth grade students at the Cesar Batalla School in Bridgeport, CT. The prorgam was part of the school's Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports program.

The SHU student-athletes spoke to the middle school students about making good choices, staying focused on learning, avoiding peer pressure and drugs and alcohol. In addition, the team donated a Nano Ipod and PSP gameboy. The items were used as part of a raffle at a school dance held shortly after the Pioneers' visit.

Cesar Batalla Principal Hector Sanchez expressed his gratitude to the Pioneers for their participation in the program. "Our students were very receptive and valued the players' insights about getting an education," Sanchez said. "Your team served as positive and valuable role models for our students. These fine intelligent young women proudly represented Sacred Heart University."
