FAIRFIELD, CT (March 2) - The Sacred Heart University softball team is gearing up for the start of the 2005 season, as they prepare for the Rebel Spring Games in Osecola, FL to open the season on March 6.

While participating in the Rebel Spring Games, SHU will take on Holy Cross, Saint Peters, Creighton, Tennessee State, Indiana-Purdue (Fort Worth), Maine, Loyola, Toledo, Southeastern Missouri State and Columbia.

After returning from Osceola, the Pioneers will host Boston University for a double-header on March 19th, before traveling to Baltimore, MD to compete in the Dawg Pound Easter Invitational hosted by UMBC on March 22-26.

April marks the start of the Northeast Conference schedule for the Pioneers, as they play their first conference game on April 2nd at St. Francis (NY). The first home conference clash for SHU is on April 3rd, when they host cross-state rivals Quinnipiac at Pioneer Park.

In addition to the rest of the NEC schedule, the Pioneers take on St. Johns (April 4), Yale (April 6), Hartford (April 7), Iona (April 13), Stony Brook (April 21) and Virginia (April 29).
