Softball Heads To Tennessee For Frost Classic

Heading In...The Pioneers are coming off an 0-4 performance at the Gamecock Invitational in which they dropped two extra inning games. Sacred Heart will look to rebound at the Frost Classic with tilts against Valaparaiso, Tennessee Tech, Missouri State, Morehead State, and Tennessee-Chattanooga.

Bombs Away... Catcher Shannon McCoy started her season off with a two-run homer against Troy State. Senior captain Betsy Harvey has already notched a triple and four RBI in the teams first four games.

Running Start... Courtney Lee displayed her power last season but so far in 2009 she also showcased her blazing speed. The first baseman has swiped three bags in three attemps in 2009. Lee also boasts the teams highest on base percentage at .429.

In the Circle... Despite not yet picking up a win Jen Russell has pitched well early this season posting a 3.11 ERA while holding opponents to a .175 batting average.

Up Next... The Pioneers will return to action March 8-15 as they travel to Osceola, Fl for the Rebel Games. Sacred Heart will play 10 games in seven days as they gear up for the home opener at Pioneer Park March 25 against UConn.

Pioneers Picked Sixth... Sacred Heart was selected to finish sixth in the 2009 NEC preseason poll. The Pioneers finsihed last season one game out of the playoffs at 9-9 and will look to make their way into the Northeast Conference postseason play in 2009.
