Final Stats

NEW HAVEN, CT. - The Sacred Heart University softball team fell in both games of a doubleheader at Yale University on Friday evening as they fell to 3-18 on the season while the Bulldogs improved to 12-12.

The Pioneers fell behind 4-0 in the first game heading into the bottom of the fourth inning when senior Grace Teruel came up and delivered a two RBI single into center field to get SHU back to within two runs. Sacred heart cut the deficit to one the next inning, but Yale answered in the top of the sixth as they added an insurance run for a 5-3 final.

The Bulldogs jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning in the second game, but the Pioneers answered right back with a run of their own on an RBI single from sophomore Jen Place. Yale regained the lead in the top of the fourth inning at 2-1 and then pulled away in the fifth as they exploded for four runs on five hits and two SHU errors.

Sacred Heart returns to action on Sunday for their home opener against Mt. St. Mary's. The doubleheader starts at 12:00 pm.
