Osceola, FL - Senior Chrissy DeMott (Levittown, NY) threw a complete game no hitter, striking out 10 batters, as the Pioneer softball team beat LaSalle 3-0 to pickup its first win of the season Monday at the Rebel Games.
DeMott faced just 22 LaSalle batters, one over the minimum. She walked two hitters and induced one double play.
The Pioneers scored two runs in the first inning and added one more in the sixth to make the margin of victory. Senior Jen Place (Latham, NY) provided the offesnive spark, going 3-3 with an RBI. Freshman Betsy Harvey (Unionville, CT) also had an RBI as the Pioneers piled up nine hits on the game.
The Pioneer victory came after three games in Florida in which the Pioneers were able to score a combined one run. Sacred Heart dropped decisions to Providence, 1-0, and Tennesse State, 4-0, on Sunday, and lost to IPFW 5-1 earlier on Monday.
Sacred Heart (1-3) is off on Tuesday before resuming play at the Rebel Games on Wednesday morning. The Pioneers will face St. Bonaventure and Valparaiso.
