AUSTIN, Texas— Sacred Heart University junior Emily Orosco was named to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-America® Division I Softball Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Orosco garnered Third Team honors as a pitcher after being selected to the Academic All-District I First Team last month.
She is the fourth Pioneer in school history to earn CoSIDA Academic All-America® honors joining Michelle Palmer '93 of SHU Softball, Kibwe Trim '06 of SHU Men's Basketball and Sean Bell '14 from SHU Football.
Orosco's impressive resume for the 2018 season continues to grow after she earned NEC Co-Pitcher of the Year, Most Improved Player and All-NEC First Team honors to go along with NFCA All-Region Third Team accolades.
She recorded a 14-5 record in the circle for the Pioneers this past season including six shutouts along with an NEC leading 1.34 earned run average. Orosco registered double-digit strikeouts on eight occasions as her 206 strikeouts on the year paced the NEC. Her 9.7 strikeouts per seven innings this season ranked 9th in the NCAA.
In the classroom, Orosco boasts a 3.98 GPA in six semesters as a Biology major. She is a two-time NEC Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll member and NFCA All America Scholar-Athlete. Orosco is one of 33 members on the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-America® Division I Softball Team.
