FAIRFIELD, Conn. – A quartet of standouts, graduate student Kelyn Fillmore, junior Hailey Desrosiers, senior Fallon Bevino, and sophomore Katelyn Christian were recently tasked with leading the Sacred Heart softball team for the 2018 season serving as team captains, Co-Head Coach Pam London announced on Tuesday afternoon.

Coach London began. "Though we have many leaders on our roster, each of these student-athletes brings something unique to our team. They have a special passion for their teammates and our program."

In her eight appearances last season, Fillmore stepped to the plate 23 times, picking up 11 hits, and nine RBI's holding a .478 batting average, and a .739 slugging percentage.

Desrosiers took the field for all 51 games last season, starting at shortstop finishing with the third highest batting average with a .291, and second highest with 43 hits on the team.

As a junior, Bevino was featured in 43 games, starting at first base. She picked up 30 hits, ending the season with a .240 batting average while posting 19 RBI's slotting her second highest on the team.

In her debut season, Christian appeared in all 51 games primarily as a designated hitter. Her rookie campaign was highlighted by her NEC All-Tournament Team recognition after going 4-for-10 in the NEC Tournament, picking up two RBI's, and four doubles.

London ended. "They have all led by example and we know they will continue to do so."

The Pioneers' 2018 season launch takes place at the Chattanooga Challenge beginning Friday, February 16 versus Indiana State and Tennessee State.
