The Sacred Heart University softball team had 15 student-athletes earn 2016-17 NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes. Student-Athletes that earn a 3.5 GPA or higher are recognized with the honor. The NFCA recognized 7,365 student-athletes across seven membership divisions. NCAA Division I led the way with 1,843 student-athletes earning a 3.5 grade-point average or higher. SHU led the NEC with its 15 selections.
"Congratulations to these talented and hard-working young women and they should be proud of their accomplishment," said co-head coach Pam London. "They have dedicated themselves to excelling in all aspects of their roles as student-athletes and we couldn't be more proud of them."
Jennie Boisvert, Fallon Bevino, Cierra Casale, Katelyn Christian, Victoria D'Addario, Kelyn Fillmore, Hannah Ford, Addison Landry, Stephanie Mangiameli, Emily Orosco, Andrea Sidor, Lindsey Spitz, Dani Warnken Makenna Wiegand and Carina Zupa were recognized for having GPA's of 3.5 or better last season. The group helped SHU to a 3.605 team GPA during the 2016-17 season, the fifth-best team GPA in Division I softball.
