Softball Announces Class of 2021

FAIRFIELD, CONN. (December 13, 2016)—Sacred Heart Softball Co-Head Coaches Elizabeth Luckie and Pam London announced the Class of 2021 Tuesday afternoon. The seven newcomers hail from all over the country.

 

Kylee Harvey

Outfielder | Kennett Square, Pa. | Kennett High School

Athletic Accomplishments:

  • Named Ches-Mont League First Team in 2016 and 2015, and to the Ches-Mont League Second Team in 2014
  • Earned a spot on the Daily Local News All-Area First Team in 2015
  • Led her team to the 2014 Ches-Mont League American Division Championship
  • With the PA Chaos in 2016 she hit five homeruns, six triples and nine doubles knocking in 36 RBI
  • At the end of the 2016 high school season, she posted a .444 batting average, racking up 17 RBI and three homers
  • Two-year Varsity Team Captain
  • Four-time varsity letter winner
 

What Coach London Says:
Kylee is a fantastic athlete, that has shown outstanding defensive prowess in centerfield.  She is also the type of hitter from the left side of the plate who can drive in some runs.  We will look to Kylee to have an immediate impact in our program.  We are very pleased to have Kylee as a Pioneer!

 

Academic Achievements:

  • Owns a 4.4 GPA
  • Member of the National Honor Society
  • Distinguished Honors Recipient all marking periods in high school and is currently in the top 7% of her class
 
 

Allie Head

Outfielder | Grayson, Ga. | Grayson High School

Athletic Accomplishments:

  • Led her team to the Sweet 16 of the Region 8-AAAAAAA Georgia State Championship in 2015 and 2016
  • Selected All-County First Team in 2015
  • Named the 2015 Gwinnett County Diamond Club Athlete of the Month
  • In 2016 she posted a .400 batting average and a .574 slugging percentage with an on base percentage of .455, scored 32 runs while driving in 24 and stealing 20 bases
  • Currently second all-time in school history for stolen bases
  • Four-year varsity starter and letter winner
 

What Coach London Says:
Allie is a super strong athlete with solid defensive skills in the outfield, including a great arm.  Offensively Allie has many ways to help her team.  She hits for a high avg, she hits with power, and she has above average speed on the bases.  We are very excited to watch Allie grow as an athlete here at SHU!

 

Academic Achievements:

  • 2015 Gwinnett County Scholar Athlete Award winner
  • Four Year Grayson High School Scholar Athlete
  • Member of the National Honor Society
  • Currently owns a 3.97 GPA
 
 

Kira Ferraiolo

Infielder | Belle Meade, N.J. | Montgomery High School

Athletic Accomplishments:

  • Broke the single season hit record during her junior year with 40 hits and a .542 batting average
  • Named to the 2016 Courier News First Team All Area
  • Led Montgomery High School to the Skyland-Raritan Conference Championship in 2016
  • Awarded Best Defensive Player in 2016
  • Named to the First Team All Skyland Conference sophomore and junior seasons, as well as being voted the best player in the conference those years
  • Four-year varsity letter winner
  • Named Team Captian junior and senior years
 

What Coach London Says:
Kira is an athlete that we have watched greatly improve and grow immensely as a softball player since we started following her.  She is a super solid infielder and she has worked herself into being a high quality hitter.  We hope that Kira will continue to develop and become a really reliable member of our SHU infield in her career here!

Loryn Pogue

Pitcher | Simi Valley, Calif. | Royal High School

Athletic Accomplishments:

  • Defensive MVP of her high school team junior year
  • In 2016, she held batters to just a .212 batting average, striking out 86 opposing batters over 83.1 innings and posting a 2.52 ERA

 

What Coach London Says:
Loryn is one of two freshman arms that we will add to our strong staff for the 2017/18 season.  She hails from CA and has exceptional spin and movement on her ball.  She is a very good athlete and a good hitter as well as a pitcher.  We see Loryn fitting in perfectly with our staff.  She has so much upside we can't wait to get her here and start working with her!

Colleen Walsh

Pitcher | Mahopa, N.Y. | Lakeland High School

Athletic Accomplishments:

  • During the 2016 high school season, she posted a 18-2 record with a 1.38 ERA
  • By the end of junior year she had totaled 50 career wins and 504 career strikeouts
 

What Coach London Says:
Colleen is the second of our freshman pitchers to join the 2017/18 staff.  We are super excited with how much potential Colleen has to be a quality pitcher at this level.  She has at least four solid pitches that she can throw with great consistency.  We are looking for both Colleen and Loryn to get a good amount of mound experience in their freshman year!

 
 

Caroline Kruger

Outfielder | Millville, N.J. | Millville Senior High School

Athletic Accomplishments:

  • Awarded MVP of the 2016 season
  • Earned Second Team All-South Jersey in 2015 and 2016
  • Named Second Team All-Conference in 2015 and 2016
  • Led her team with 37 hits, a .468 batting average, a .759 slugging percentage and nine doubles in 2016
  • Owns 96 career hits going into senior year
  • Awarded Rookie of the Year in 2014
  • Named Atlantic City Press All Star and Daily Journal All Star
  • Team Captain for her senior year
  • A four-year varsity letter winner in softball, she also lettered in basketball and cross country
 

What Coach London Says:
Caroline is a strong athlete with plenty of upside.  As a corner player she has a great reflexes and a solid arm.  Her enthusiasm on the field and towards the game and her teammates is awesome.  Caroline's high BA and impressive slugging percentage has us hopeful the she can be an RBI provider for us in her future here at SHU!

Sarina Campos

Utility | Eastchester, N.Y. | Ursuline High School

Athletic Accomplishments:

  • Currently owns a lifetime batting average of .386 with a .672 slugging percentage and a .444 on base percentage
  • Ranked 27th in the state of New York after her junior season
  • Has racked up 93 hits and scored 87 runs while knocking in 74 during her varsity career
 

What Coach London Says:
Sarina is an all around versatile player.  She can play infield or outfield with dependability.  On the offensive side of the ball, Sarina is exciting and energetic.  She has a high BA and has scored a ton of runs in her HS career.  We will be trying to have her transfer that production here at SHU.  We are thrilled to have Sarina aboard!
