  • SHU Softball Donates $1,750 to CT Challenge

    Last Wednesday, Sacred Heart Softball Co-Head Coaches Elizabeth Luckie and Pam London, along with players Kate Nadler (Southbury, Conn.) and Kiera Sullivan (Woodbury, Conn.) presented the CT Challenge Cancer Survivorship Center with a check for $1,750. In the weeks leading up to the doubleheader, the Pioneers collected pledges from family, friends and members of the community that were multiplied by the team’s 10 hits against the Bryant University Bulldogs on April 12.
  • Softball Season Finale Cancelled

    Due to this week's rain, and continued inclement weather, today's Sacred Heart softball season finale against the University of Connecticut has been cancelled. The Pioneers finish this season 12-30 overall and 1-15 in Northeast Conference play.

    Jenn Robillard (Plainville, Mass.) went 2-for-3 Tuesday collecting two RBI and scoring twice as the Sacred Heart softball team fell to Manhattan 9-7.
  • Sibthorp Homers as Pioneers Fall to LIU Brooklyn

    Justine Sibthorp (Santa Clarita, Calif.) blasted her fourth home run of the season against LIU Brooklyn Sunday as the Sacred Heart softball team dropped two games to the Blackbirds, 1-0 and 2-1. Junior Kate Nadler (Southbury, Conn.) collected two of the Pioneers’ five hits on the day going 2-for-4 at the plate over both games.
  • Pioneers Swept on Senior Day

    The Sacred Heart softball team was swept by Northeast Conference foe Saint Francis U on “Senior Day” Saturday. The Pioneers battled hard in the first game, but the Red Flash rallied for four unanswered runs in the seventh to take the game 9-6. Then in the latter game, managed just two hits before getting shutout 2-0.
  • Softball Downed by Bobcats 4-3

    Kelyn Fillmore (Simi Valley, Calif.) went 2-for-3 Thursday in the Sacred Heart softball team’s 4-3 road loss to Quinnipiac University. The loss drops the Pioneers to 12-25 on the season heading into their final home game of the season this Saturday against Saint Francis U.

    Annie Dreher (Saugus, Calif.) went 3-for-6 at the plate and scored a run as the Sacred Heart softball team dropped two games to Siena Tuesday afternoon.

  • Carlson Shines in 8 Inning Loss

    Jamie Carlson (Corona, Calif.) racked up a career high 10 strike outs through eight innings of work, but still got the loss Monday evening as the Sacred Heart softball team fell to Army 3-2. Freshman Victoria D’Addario (Lincoln Park, N.J.) went 3-for-3 at the plate with a double, while classmate Andrea Sidor (North Vancouver, British Columbia) went 2-for-3 scoring both of the Pioneers’ runs.
  • Pioneer Offense Silenced; SHU Drop Two to FDU

    The Sacred Heart softball team dropped two to Fairleigh Dickinson Saturday afternoon. SHU managed just 10 hits on the day as they fell 2-1 and 6-1 to the Knights. The pair of losses drops the Pioneers to 12-21 on the season and just 1-11 in Northeast Conference play.
  • Pioneer Drop Two Games to Wagner

    The Sacred Heart softball team dropped both games of Friday’s doubleheader to Wagner. After falling 2-1 in game one, the Seahawks’ Samantha Bedker pitched a complete game shutout downing the Pioneers 4-0. The pair of losses drops SHU to 12-19 this season and 1-9 in Northeast Conference play.
  • Three-Run First Leads SHU to 5-3 Victory Over Yale

    A three-run first inning led the Sacred Heart softball team to a 5-3 victory over the Yale University Bulldogs on a chilly Wednesday afternoon. Kacie Wentworth (Canton, N.Y.) went 2-for-2 at the plate knocking in a run and scoring one before helping her team from within the circle pitching three innings of relief for her first save of the season.
  • Today's Softball Doubleheader Minimized to Single Game at 5pm

  • Pioneers Snag First NEC Win of the Season; Split with Robert Morris

    The Sacred Heart softball team got its first Northeast Conference win of the season Sunday afternoon as they split with Robert Morris University. After falling 5-1 in the first game, Kacie Wentworth (Canton, N.Y.) led the Pioneers to a 4-3 victory in game two. Justine Sibthorp (Santa Clarita, Calif.) went 3-for-6 at the dish and scored two runs as SHU moves to 11-17 on the season and 1- in NEC play.

    The Sacred Heart softball team was swept by Bryant Saturday afternoon dropping game one of the doubleheader 4-3 before falling in the second game 5-0.
  • Softball Downs Quinnipiac 4-0

    Victoria D’Addario (Lincoln Park, N.Y.) went 2-for-3 at the plate with an RBI as the Sacred Heart softball team shutout the Quinnipiac University Bobcats 4-0 Thursday afternoon at Pioneer Park. Anna Mallory (Pine Bush, N.Y.) got the win after holding the Bobcats to just one hit over four innings of work. The win starts the nine-game home stand right and improves the Pioneers’ season record 10-14.
  • Pioneers Blanked by Fairfield Stags 3-0

    The Sacred Heart softball team was shutout by crosstown rival Fairfield University 3-0 Wednesday evening. Kacie Wentworth (Canton, N.Y.) took the loss as the Pioneers fall to 9-14 on the season.

    The Sacred Heart softball team visited French Town Elementary School in Trumbull, Conn. for a meet and greet. Before the school’s movie night, the Pioneers talked to students about what it meant to be a collegiate student-athlete and organized relay races.

    The Sacred Heart softball team got shutout by Mount St. Mary’s in both games of Saturday’s doubleheader. The losses drop the Pioneers to 9-13 this season and they remain winless in Northeast Conference play, 0-4.
  • SHU Softball Raising Money for CT Challenge During April 12 Doubleheader

    On Saturday, April 12 at 1:00 p.m. during their doubleheader against Bryant University, the Sacred Heart softball team will take the field in honor of their coach, Elizabeth (Bippy) Luckie, who is a breast cancer survivor. The team is raising money by collecting donations at the game for the CT Challenge Cancer Center. In the weeks leading up to the game, the team is asking family, friends, and others throughout the community to make a pledge that will be multiplied by the amount of Pioneer hits during the games.
  • Pioneers Drop Midweek Game to Iona 3-2

    Freshman McKenna Wiegand (Gilbert, Ariz.) slapped a two RBI single through the left side of the infield scoring Annie Dreher (Saugus, Calif.) and Justine Sibthorp (Santa Clarita, Calif.) for the only two runs Pioneer runs of the game. Jamie Carlson (Corona, Calif.) got the loss after allowing Allison Hand’s walk-off homerun to give Iona the 3-2 win over the Sacred Heart softball team. The loss drops SHU to 9-11 on the season.
  • Dreher Homers as Softball Gets Swept by Blue Devils

    The Sacred Heart softball team was swept by reigning Northeast Conference Champion in Central Connecticut State in Saturday’s NEC opener. After being shutout 5-0 in the first game, the Pioneers rallied late in the second game, but were unable to overcome the deficit and ended up falling 4-3. SHU is not 9-10 on the season and 0-2 in conference play.
  • D'Addario's Walk-Off Single Seals 3-2 Win Over Fairfield

    The Sacred Heart softball team defeated cross-town rival Fairfield in walk-off fashion Thursday afternoon at Pioneer Park. With the winning run on second base, freshman Victoria D’Addario (Lincoln Park, N.Y.) drove the ball into the gap in right center allowing classmate Andrea Sidor (North Vancouver, British Columbia) to round the bases to home. The Pioneers improve to 9-8 on the season before opening Northeast Conference play this weekend against Central Connecticut State on Saturday and LIU Brooklyn on Sunday.

    Fairfield, Conn. (March 24, 2014)--Due to the storm that is supposed to hit the Northeast Tuesday evening, the game between the Sacred Heart softball team and the University of Connecticut has been rescheduled to Thursday, May 1 at 3:00 p.m.
  • Dreher's Walk-off Clinches Pioneers' 5-4 Win Over Saint Peter's

    With the score tied at four and one out in the bottom of the seventh, senior Annie Dreher (Saugus, Calif.) sent the game-winning homer over the left field fence clinching the Sacred Heart softball team’s eighth win of the season, 5-4, over Saint Peter’s in the final day of the UMBC Classic. Dreher went 3-for-4 in the game scoring two runs.
  • Pioneers Snag Two Wins Saturday

    The Sacred Heart softball team took two out of their three games Saturday at the UMBC Classic. After starting the day with a 3-1 win over Bowling Green, the Pioneers finished what they started yesterday picking up a 2-1 win over UMBC before falling to the Retrievers 14-10 in the last game of the day. SHU heads into the final day of the UMBC Classic 7-8.
  • Softball Leads 2-0 Before Rain Delay

    The Sacred Heart softball team managed a two-run lead Friday afternoon before a sudden downpour halted the game against UMBC in the bottom of the fourth inning. The game will resume Saturday at approximately 3:15 p.m.
  • Pioneers Swept by Stony Brook Sunday

    Sacred Heart pitchers struck out seven batters as the softball team was lost two games to Stony Brook 4-3 Saturday afternoon. The sweep drops the Pioneers to 5-7 on the season.
  • Saturday's Softball Games Cancelled

    FAIRFIELD, CONN. (March 13, 2014)--Due to poor field conditions at Stony Brook, the Sacred Heart softball team's games against Holy Cross and the Seawolves that were scheduled for Saturday have been cancelled. They are still hoping to play Sunday.
  • Softball Finishes Rebel Games 5-3; Splits Saturday

    The Sacred Heart softball team split the final day of the Rebel Games. Adrianna Mallory (Pine Bush, N.Y.) shut out the Saint Peter’s Peahens 4-0 in the day’s early game, but the Pioneers fell to Utah Valley 3-2 in eight innings in the final game. SHU finishes the Rebel Games 5-3 and comes home with a 5-5 overall record.
