    Fairfield, CT – The Pitt Center opened up its doors last week to the Ogdensburg Boys and Girls club for their 8th annual trip to Sacred Heart University. The Boys and Girls club is based out of Ogdensburg, New York and has been visiting Sacred Heart since 2006.

    The Sacred Heart Softball team dropped both games of the 2013 season finale doubleheader against Robert Morris Sunday afternoon. The Pioneers managed just two runs on the day, falling 9-1 in both games. SHU finishes its 2013 campaign 25-30 and 6-15 in conference play.

    Kate Nadler (Southbury, Conn.) went 4-for-8 at the plate Saturday afternoon driving in and scoring two runs as the Sacred Heart Softball team split with Saint Francis U in Loretto, Penn. The Pioneers took game one 10-3 before falling 4-2 in the latter game of the doubleheader. SHU is now 24-28 on the season and 5-13 against Northeast Conference opponents heading into their final competition of the season: Sunday’s doubleheader against Robert Morris in Moon Township, Penn.

(April 27, 2013)—Kate Nadler (Southbury, Conn.) went 4-for-7 at the plate Sunday as the Sacred Heart Softball team dropped both games of the doubleheader to Mount St. Mary’s on "Senior Day." SHU attempted comebacks in both games, but could never get it done, falling 3-2 and 2-1. The Pioneers drop to 22-26 on the season and 4-12 in conference with the pair of losses.

    Kacie Wentworth (Canton, N.Y.) and Courtney Machamer (Williamstown, Penn.) went 2-for-3 at the plate, accounting for four of the Pioneers’ five runs, Thursday afternoon as the Sacred Heart Softball team was rendered scoreless by the cross-town rival Fairfield Stags. SHU falls to 22-24 with the 4-0 nothing.
  • Three Homers Power Pioneers Past Hawks for Pair of Wins

    Three homeruns powered the Sacred Heart Softball team over Hartford twice in Tuesday’s doubleheader. Annie Dreher (Saugus, Calif.) and Adrianna Mallory (Pine Bush, N.Y.) went yard in the game one 7-6 win, while Justin Sibthorp (Santa Clarita, Calif.) launched one to centerfield in the 5-4 game two victory. The two wins improve SHU to 22-23 on the season.

    Sacred Heart University women’s softball team joins the National Foundation for Cancer Research to participate in NFCR’s “Beat Cancer with a Bat” fundraiser, an annual event in which college and high school softball teams across the United States are invited to contribute to NFCR’s cancer research campaign by pledging to donate proceeds from at least one game to NFCR.b

Nicole Sidor (West Vancouver, BC) and Annie Dreher (Saugus, Calif.) notched the only hits against the Terriers’s crafty righty. The Pioneers fall to 20-23 on the season with the loss.
  • Nadler and Dreher Homer As SHU Drops Two to Bryant

    Kate Nadler (Southbury, Conn.) and Annie Dreher (Saugus, Calif.) both homered, but the Sacred Heart Softball team dropped two close games to Bryant University Saturday afternoon. After falling 3-2 in the first game, the Pioneers battled for 11 innings in game two before the Bulldogs’ Kate Murray hit a walk off single in the bottom of the 11th sending SHU home with the 4-3 loss. Justine Sibthorp (Santa Clarita, Calif.) went 4-for-9 at the plate with an RBI and one run scored. With the pair of losses, the Pioneers fall to 20-22 on the season and 4-10 in Northeast Conference play.
  • SHU Softball Sweeps Yale; Snaps Losing Streak

    Annie Dreher (Saugus, Calif.) and Kate Nadler (Southbury, Conn.) led the Sacred Heart Softball team to a sweep of Yale Wednesday evening snapping a three-game losing streak. Dreher knocked in three runs in the first game, while Nadler had four RBI in the second. The Pioneers are now an even 20-20 on the season.
  • Sacred Heart Drops Two to Quinnipiac

    The Sacred Heart Softball team dropped both games of Sunday’s doubleheader to in-state rival Quinnipiac at Pioneer Park. After being shutout 6-0 in the first game, the Pioneers had a 3-0 lead going into the sixth inning of the second game, but the Bobcats added four in the last two innings handing SHU the 4-3 loss. Sacred Heart drops to 18-20 and 4-8 in conference play.

    The Sacred Heart Softball team split with Fairleigh Dickinson Saturday evening. After topping the Knights 3-1 in the first game thanks to late scoring, Sacred Heart couldn’t muster up enough runs to overcome an eight0run deficit in the second game and fell 8-2.

    The Sacred Heart Softball team was swept by Stony Brook in Wednesday afternoon’s doubleheader. After being shutout in the first game 11-0, the Pioneers pushed game two all the way to the final outs before the Seawolves prevailed 3-2. The sweep drops SHU to 17-17 on the season.

    Nicole Sidor (West Vancouver, BC) came in for the save with the Pioneers leading 6-4, but got the loss as the cross-town rival Fairfield Stags scored 11 runs in the top of the seventh to beat the Sacred Heart Softball team 14-6 Tuesday afternoon. Annie Dreher (Saugus, Calif.) had a good day at the plate going 3-for-4 with three RBI and a homerun. With the loss, SHU falls to 17-15 on the season.

    The Sacred Heart Softball team split with LIU Brooklyn in Sunday’s doubleheader at Pioneer Park. The Pioneers took the first game 5-4 in the tenth inning. Then, in another close one, fell 3-2 in the latter game. SHU is not 17-14 on the season and 3-5 in NEC play.

    The Sacred Heart Softball team was shutout by the undefeated Central Connecticut State Blue Devils Saturday afternoon. The Pioneers fell 5-0 and 4-0 in the doubleheader. SHU is now 16-13 on the season and 2-4 against Northeast Conference opponents.

    The Sacred Heart Softball team managed just one run in Saturday’s doubleheader against Monmouth University. The Pioneers were shutout 1-0 in the first game, and fell 6-1 in the second. Nicole Sidor (West Vancouver, BC) had the only SHU RBI with a solo homerun to left field in the second game. Sacred Heart is now 16-11 this season, and 2-2 against Northeast Conference opponents.

    The Sacred Heart Softball team snagged their first conference wins with the sweep of Wagner Friday afternoon. The Pioneers shut out Wagner in both games, winning the first 8-0 and squeezing out a 1-0 win in the second game. Justin Sibthorp (Santa Clarita, Calif.) knocked in three runs in the first game while going 2-for-3 from the plate. Senior Melissa Tobin (Hudson, Mass.) collected the only RBI in the second game securing the win for the Pioneers. Sacred Heart is now 16-9 this season and 2-0 against Northeast Conference opponents.
  • Dreher Blasts 3 Homeruns; Pioneers Pick up Pair of Wins Over Dartmouth

(March 26, 2013)--Annie Dreher (Saugus, Calif.) blasted three homers, one in first game and two in the second, in Tuesday’s doubleheader against Dartmouth as the Sacred Heart Softball team notched two wins over the Big Green at Pioneer Park. Sophomore Kacie Wentworth (Canton, N.Y.) came up big in the bottom of the eighth inning of the second game, sending a double to centerfield for the walk-off 7-6 win.

    The Sacred Heart Softball Team fell in extra innings 1-0 to the University of Connecticut Sunday afternoon at Pioneer Park. Nicole Sidor (West Vancouver, BC) pitched a complete game, giving up just one run on six hits while striking out nine batters.

    The Sacred Heart Softball team swept Iona in Friday’s doubleheader. Justine Sibthorp (Santa Clarita, Calif.) had the hot bat in the home-opener, going 4-for-7 from the plate with a triple and four RBI. The Pioneers improve to 12-8 on the season heading into Sunday’s matchup with UConn.

Nicole Sidor (West Vancouver, BC) and Annie Dreher (Saugus, Calif.) each had two, while Nicki Surkes (Brightwaters, N.Y.) had the fifth.

    The Sacred Heart Softball team is 4-0 at the UMBC Tournament in Baltimore, Md. after collecting two wins Saturday against La Salle (8-0) and Coppin State (5-1). Nicki Surkes (Brightwaters, N.Y.) went 7-for-8 at the plate today knocking in five runs for the Pioneers.
  • SHU Softball Picks up a Pair of Wins at UMBC Tournament

    The Sacred Heart Softball team picked up a pair of wins on the opening day of the UMBC Tournament. Kate Nadler (Southbury, Conn.) and Annie Dreher (Saugus, Calif.) had the hot bats. Nadler was 7-8 on the day with five RBIs and a homerun, while Dreher went 3-6 with four RBIs and a homerun. The Pioneers are now 7-7 this season.
