Courtney Lee (Camarillo, CA) blasted four homers and notched 11 RBI in five games en route to being the first Pioneer this season to claim Akadema/NEC player of the week honors. The first baseman slugged an impressive 1.222 and went 9-for-18 at the plate for a .500 batting average. Lee's best game of the weekend came against the host of the Colorado State Classic in a two homer, seven RBI performance that lead to a 12-9 SHU victory.
Lee also belted the Pioneers first long ball of the 2011 season on opening day to break a 2-2 tie with Santa Clara. Sacred Heart is averaging seven runs per game behind Lee's production as she approaches her 2010 totals of six homeruns and 14 RBI. Lee finished the tournament on fire at the plate, recording seven hits in her last eight at bats.
The Pioneer softball team begins a stretch of eight games in five days March 8 at the annual Rebel Games.
