FAIRFIELD, CT - Emma Howes scored the only goal visiting Fairleigh Dickinson would need in the 29th minute, off a feed from Amanda Wheeler, to lead the Knights to a 2-0 win at Sacred Heart in a Northeast Conference women's soccer game Sunday afternoon.

The loss drops SHU to 2-2-3 in the NEC and into 5th place with two games to play. At stake in the final two home games - Friday against Qunnipiac and Sunday against Central CT - is a berth in the four-team NEC post-season tournament. FDU moves to 4-3 with the win and into third place.

The Pioneers outshot FDU in the second half, 9-6, but couldn't dent keeper Rachel Derrico. In fact, the only score of the period came off the foot of Emma Yamada from Christine Niven in the 79th minute.

Junior Britney Dupee and senior Lisa Nowakowski had five of the seven SHU shots on goal, but Derrico stopped them all. Freshman Meghan Reichelt made one save for the Pioneers.
