Final Stats

FAIRFIELD, CT (October 10, 2003) - The Sacred Heart women's soccer team defeated Monmouth 2-0 Friday afternoon, improving their overall record to 6-3-3 and keeping their conference record perfect at 4-0-0.

The Pioneers kept control of the play, but the Hawks refused to let down in the first half. After repeated chances Jasmine Urbas (Pickering, Ontario) made the cross pass to Paula Pineda (Virgo, Spain) to open the scoring at the 54th minute in the second half. It was Pineda's team-leading fifth goal and her fourth game-winner of the year. Just four minutes later Pineda returned the favor with a cross to teammate Lisa Burbrige (Babylon, NY), who picked-up her first career goal.

The Pioneers had 19 shots total on Monmouth's Abby Shiffler throughout the game. Key shots came from Pineda, Crystel Kalweit (West Barnstable, MA) and Burbrige.

The Pioneer's senior goalkeeper Leslie Konsig (Millburn, NJ) finished with three saves on nine shots for the shutout.

Sacred Heart returns to action next Friday, October 17th when they host defending Northeast Conference Champion, Central Connecticut at 3:30 pm.
