Final Stats

ALBANY, NY - Sophomore Leigh Dogmanits (Walnutport, PA) scored the only goal of the game in the 58th minute as the Sacred Heart women's soccer team picked up its first win of the season and defeated host Albany in the second game of the Albany Invitational Sunday.

The Pioneers finished second in the tournament to Siena, based on total goals scored in the two games (5-3). SHU and Siena tied 2-2 on Friday. Sophomore Jasmine Rodriguez (Clinton, CT) was named the Defensive MVP of the tournament and was named to the All-Tournament team along with Dogmanits and junior Jackie Sharp (W. Islip, NY).

The Dogmanits goal came off a pass from Britney Dupee (Portland, ME) and Dogmanits beat Albany goalie Amber Maisonet to a 50/50 ball and sent a low liner into the net.

SHU, now 1-7-1, outshot Albany 22-17 and had five corners to just one for the Great Danes. Sophomore Meghan Reichelt picked up seven saves in the victory.
