ALBANY , NY (September 21, 2003) -- The Sacred Heart University women's soccer team played to their third scoreless tie on the year, battling Rider to a 0-0 tie on the second day of the Governor's Cup at Albany Sunday. Both teams finished the tournament with 1-0-1 records but Rider takes home the Cup on point differential over Sacred Heart, +4 to +1.
Senior goalkeeper Leslie Konsig (Millburn, NJ) recorded a season-high 12 saves, four of which came in the second overtime, to pace the Pioneers. Konsig recorded her fourth shutout of the year and her second in as many days. She now has a staggering 27 for her career, well beyond the school record. For her efforts over the weekend, Konsig was named to the all-tournament team and garnered tournament Defensive MVP honors.
Joing Konsig on the Governor's Cup All-Tournament team were senior Paula Pineda (Vigo, Spain) and junior Christel Kalweit (West Barnstable, MA).
Rider senior goalkeeper Erin Wolleon made six saves. Rider's Tami Coyle was named the tournament Offensive MVP.
The Pioneers are now 2-2-3 on the year and are next in action on Friday, September 26th when they travel to Robert Morris for their first Northeast Conference match of the year.
