Final Stats

WORCESTER, MA - The Sacred Heart women's soccer team controlled the play for much of the game, outshooting host Holy Cross 32-14, but the Pioneers still came up short on the scoreboard in a 2-1 loss to the Crusaders.

Holy Cross, 2-3, scored the first goal of the game in the 29th minute on a breakaway by Lauren Wright off a pass from Chelsie Pugliese from midfield. The game remained that way until the half, despite the Pioneers amassing 13 shots to just five for the Crusaders.

Sacred Heart, 0-4, finally got the tying goal from freshman Leigh Dogmanits (Walnutport, PA) from eight yards out on a pass from fellow rookie Alex Mack (Freeport, ME).

The Crusaders won the game with just :50 left on the second score of the game by Wright with another assist from Pugliese.

The Pioneers outshot Holy Cross 19-9 in the half and had three corners to just one for the Crusaders.

Jessica Pietrowicz earned the win in net for Holy Cross, playing the second half and making seven saves. Mary Ferketic played the first half and made five saves. Freshman Meghan Reichelt made six saves for the Pioneers.
