Women's Soccer Falls to Colgate, 3-0
Sept. 9, 2007
FAIRFIELD, CT - Senior Franny Iacuzzi (Evanston, IL) recorded her second career hat trick, including a penalty kick, to lead the Colgate Raiders to a 2-0 win over Sacred Heart University in a non-conference women's soccer game on Sunday afternoon.
Iacuzzi scored her first on the PK 22 minutes into the contest when a Raider was pulled down in the box. She beat SHU goalie Meghan Reichelt with a blast low to the left side of the goal. Colgate, 2-2, took the 2-0 lead in the 38th minute on a deflection off a shot from sophomore Jessica Bitsack.
Colgate, now 2-2, took a 3-0 lead early in the second half on Iacuzzi's third goal. The Pioneers almost broke the ice with just over 26 minutes to go on a blast by sophomore Stacy Leonard (Rockland, MA) but Colgate backup goalie Brittany Pearsall made a spectacular save.
The Raiders outshot the Pioneers 14-13. Reichelt finished with a career-high seven saves for SHU, while Carly Sousa made three, Pearsall two and Carrie Glass one for Colgate.
