SHU Women's Soccer Shut Out, 2-0, by Fordham

QUEENS, N.Y. (September 8, 2006) - Fordham's Haley Lentsch set up a pair of first half goals to lead the Rams to a 2-0 win over Sacred Heart Friday afternoon on the first day of the St. John's NYC NIKE Classic in Queens, New York. The loss is Sacred Heart's fifth-straight, all coming via shutout. Fordham is now 2-2-0 on the year.
The Ram's first goal came in the 27th minute of action as Lauren Bustos scored her first goal of the season coming off a rebounded shot off the foot of Lentsch.
Lentch struck again in the 44th minute when she sent Katie Sanchez in for a breakaway with just 15 ticks left before the half. Sanchez deposited her shot high over the outstretched hands of SHU keeper Ashley Mocarski (Stratford, CT) for her first goal on the year and produced the final 2-0 margin.
The Rams held a 12-7 advantage on shots while Elisabeth Roald need make three stops on Pioneers attempts. Mocarski made seven saves in taking the loss.
The Pioneers wrap up play in the tournament this Sunday when they face the host Red Storm at 2:30 pm.
