NEW HAVEN, CT (September 9, 2004) - The Sacred Heart women's soccer team dropped their second one-goal decision of the early season, falling just short in a 1-0 loss at Yale University Tuesday night. Yale's Christina Huang scored the only goal of the game in the 58th minute as the Bulldogs improved to 3-0 while dropping SHU to 1-3 on the year. Huang settled a pass from Mimi Macauley and blasted a shot past Pioneer goalkeeper Ashley Mocarski (Stratford, CT) from 25 yards out. Sarah Walker made four saves in goal for the Bulldogs to pick-up the shutout. Yale controlled play for much of the game, out shooting the Pioneers 24-7. Mocarski, though, was outstanding in goal. She made 11 saves, including a diving stop on Macauley's penalty kick in the 49th minute. The sophomore goalkeeper has played very well since earning the starting nod at the beginning of the year. Mocarski has a 1.50 goals against average with 30 saves in four games. The Pioneers return to action this Sunday, September 12th when they host Northeastern University in their 2004 home opener on Campus Field, starting at 2:00 pm.
