Pioneers Fall 4-2 at Saint Francis

LORETTO, Penn. – In their final weekend of the regular season, the Pioneers opened with a 4-1 loss at Saint Francis University Friday afternoon. Sacred Heart falls to 5-11-1 on the season and 2-4-1 in the NEC.  

The Red Flash got two goals and an assist from two-time defending NEC Player of the Year Tesa McKibben on the way to their NEC leading 6th conference win of the season. McKibben's two goals were sandwiched around a goal from sophomore Barbara Maros De Carvalho

Junior Eloa Nascimento scored Saint Francis' first goal in the 15th minute, retrieving her own rebound and putting it behind SHU goalkeeper Sydney Judkins (South Park, PA).

Down 4-0, the Pioneers finally got on the board in the 78th minute. Sophomore Alexis Parlato (Center Moriches, NY) tapped in a deflection goal off a shot by sophomore Dana Cosmedy (Monroe. CT). It is Parlato's fifth goal of the season, tying junior Kristin Verrette (Saugus, MA) for the team lead.

Sophomore Marissa Christy (Massapequa, NY) scored her fourth goal of the season in the 88th minute, depositing a breakaway into the back of the net to make the final score 4-2.

Sacred Heart will play their final game of the season on Sunday afternoon at Robert Morris.
