Pioneers Fall 1-0 to LIU Brooklyn

FAIRFIELD, Conn – LIU Brooklyn forward Jenn Peters headed home a beautiful service from Lucy Gunton-Jones in the 27th minute Sunday afternoon to deliver a 1-0 win over the Pioneers on Campus Field. The Pioneers now sit at 5-10 overall and 2-3 in the NEC.

LIU Brooklyn goalkeeper Jessica Sexton made seven saves to earn her third shutout of the season.

For the game's only goal, Gunton-Jones took a free kick from about 40 yards out on the left side and found a streaking Peters coming across the SHU defense to head it past Pioneer goalie Sydney Judkins (South Park, PA).

The Pioneers outshot LIU Brooklyn 13-9 but could not find the back of the net. SHU has been shutout seven times this season.

Sacred Heart returns home next Sunday afternoon to celebrate Senior Day against the Knights of Fairleigh Dickinson.
