FAIRFIELD, Conn – Sacred Heart Women’s Soccer Head Coach announced seniors, Jillian Picinich (Bellmore, NY), Kristin Verrette (Saugus, MA), and Talia Schwartz (Roslyn, NY), as captains for the upcoming 2014 season.

Women's Soccer Finishes Season with 5-0 Setback at Robert Morris
MOON TOWNSHIP, Penn – The Sacred Heart Pioneers closed out their 3013 season with a 5-0 loss at the hand of Robert Morris Sunday afternoon at North Athletic Complex. The Pioneers finish 2013 with a record of 5-12-1 and 2-5-1 in the NEC.

LORETTO, Penn. – In their final weekend of the regular season, the Pioneers opened with a 4-1 loss at Saint Francis University Friday afternoon. Sacred Heart falls to 5-11-1 on the season and 2-4-1 in the NEC.

FAIRFIELD, Conn - The Sacred Heart Pioneers played a scoreless 110 minutes with the Fairleigh Dickinson Knights on Senior day at Campus Field Sunday afternoon. Sacred Heart is now 5-10-1 and 2-31 in the Northeast Conference.

FAIRFIELD, Conn – LIU Brooklyn forward Jenn Peters headed home a beautiful service from Lucy Gunton-Jones in the 27th minute Sunday afternoon to deliver a 1-0 win over the Pioneers on Campus Field. The Pioneers now sit at 5-10 overall and 2-3 in the NEC.

DaSilva Delivers in the 83rd Minute to Push Pioneers Past Mount St. Mary's
FAIRFIELD, Conn – Sophomore Corina DaSilva (Brookfield, CT) scored in the 83rd minute to deliver the Sacred Heart Pioneers a 2-1 conference victory over Mount St. Mary’s Friday night on Campus Field. It is the Pioneers third 2-1 win this season, and also it’s ninth game decided by just one goal. SHU improves their conference record to 2-2 this season.

Sacred Heart sophomore Alexis Patlato (Center Moniches, NY) posted both goals to lead the Pioneers to a 2-0 victory over Central Connecticut State Friday night in Northeast Conference play on Campus Field. The Pioneers end a four-game losing skid and pick-up their first NEC win of the season.

Fairfield, CT – The Sacred Heart women’s soccer team dropped their fourth staright game Sunday afternoon with a 1-0 setback to the Bryant Bulldogs at the Bulldogs Soccer Field in Smithfield, RI. The Pioneers drop to 3-9 overall and 0-2 in the Northeast Conference.

Women's Soccer Drops Northeast Conference Opener
Staten Island, NY – In their Northeast Conference opener, the Sacred Heart women’s soccer team fell 5-3 to the Wagner Seahawks Friday night in Staten Island. Wagner’s Samantha Jensen put together her first career hat trick to lead the Seahawks past Sacred Heart. The Pioneers fall to 3-7 on the season and 0-1 in the conference.

Hartford, CT - The Sacred Heart women’s soccer team finished their non-conference schedule with a 3-0 loss to the Hartford Hawks Thursday night at Alumni Stadium in West Hartford. The Pioneers start Northeast Conference play with a record of 3-7.

Verrette Named NEC Player of the Week for Second Consecutive Week
Fairfield, CT – For the second consecutive week, junior forward Kristin Verrette (Saugus, MA) was named Northeast Conference Player of the Week. Verrette and Saint Francis’s Tesa McKibben have both won the honor in back-to-back weeks this season.

Providence, RI – Brown forward Chloe Cross scored two second half goals Sunday afternoon as the Sacred Heart Pioneers fell to the Brown Bears 2-0 at Stevenson Field in Providence. Sacred Heart had a two game winning streak snap and fall to 3-6 on the season.

Fairfield, CT – The Sacred Heart women’s soccer scored two goals in the first half Friday night, en route to a 2-1 victory over the Yale Bulldogs in New Haven. Junior captain Kristin Verrette (Saugus, MA) recorded a goal and an assist as SHU improves to 3-5 on the season.

Pioneers Score Five in the Second Half to Down UMass Lowell 5-1
Fairfield, CT (September 15, 2013) – After five straight scoreless halves of soccer, the Sacred Heart Pioneers came alive to score five second half goals Sunday afternoon to defeat the UMass Lowell River Hawks 5-1 at Campus Field, The five goals is the highest total for Sacred Heart since November 1st, 2009 when they also scored five.

Pioneers Fall 1-0 to Columbia
Fairfield, CT (September 10, 2013) – The Columbia Lions drilled a free kick from about 25 yards out in the 82nd minute to down the Sacred Heart women’s soccer team 1-0 Tuesday night at Campus Field. For the second game in a row, the Pioneers could not find the back of the net and now fall to 1-5 on the season.

Women's Soccer Drops Home Opener 1-0 to Cornell
Fairfield, CT – Wearing their home whites for the first time this season, the Sacred Heart women’s soccer team lost 1-0 to the Cornell Big Red Friday at Campus Field Friday evening. SHU falls to 1-4 on the season with each game being decided by just one goal.

SHU Falls to Lafayette, 3-2
Easton, PA – The Lafayette Leopards scored two goals within the first 11 minutes, including just 33 seconds into the game, on their way to a 3-2 victory over Sacred Heart Sunday afternoon at Oaks Stadium in Easton, Pennsylvania. SHU and Lafayette managed to score all five goals in the first half with Lafayette keeping SHU off the board in the second half to preserve the victory. The Pioneers are now 1-3 on the season, while Lafayette improves to 2-0.

Verrette Nets Game Winner as SHU Defeats Rhode Island, 2-1
Kingston, RI - Junior captain Kristin Verrette (Saugus, MA) scored the game winning goal unassisted in the 48th minute to give Sacred Heart the 2-1 lead and their first victory of this young 2013 season. The leading point scorer of a year ago, Verrette, could not find a better time to score her first goal of the season. SHU improves to 1-2 this year.

Burlington, VT – University of New Hampshire’s Kirsten O'Neill scored the game’s lone goal in the 27th minute to defeat Sacred Heart 1-0 in the Pioneers’ final game of the TD Bank Classic in Burlington, Vermont. SHU falls to 0-2 on the young season.

Burlington, VT – The Sacred Heart women’s soccer team opened their 2013 campaign with a 2-1 loss to the University of Vermont on Friday evening. Sophomore Marissa Christy (Massapequa, NY) scored the lone goal for SHU as they begin their season 0-1.

Women's Soccer Set to Begin Season Friday
Fairfield, CT – The Sacred Heart women’s soccer team is set to begin their 2013 campaign this coming Friday when they travel to the University of Vermont to participate in the TD Bank Classic. SHU will take on Vermont on Friday afternoon before facing off with the University of New Hampshire on Sunday.

Women's Soccer Picked to Finish Third in the NEC
Fairfield, CT – Head Coach Kim Banner and the Sacred Heart women’s soccer team have been selected to finish third in the Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches’ Poll. Saint Francis University sits atop the preseason poll for the third straight season, while the two-time defending champion, LIU Brooklyn Blackbirds, come in at the number two spot. SHU received one first place vote.
