Loretto, PA - In a matinee showdown, the Sacred Heart women's soccer team suffered a 2-0 loss to Saint Francis University (PA.). The loss dropped the Pioneers' record to 5-3-3, while improving the Red Flash's record to 6-5.
The Pioneers kept St. Francis's defense busy, outshooting the Red Flash 14-7. Junior forward, Ashley Moore (Levittown, NY.), had three shots in the first 17 minutes alone, four total on the day. Moore combined with Amanda Stiles (Miller Place, NY.) (3) and Lauren Boccio (Dix Hills, NY.) (2) collected nine of Sacred Heart's 14 shots.
Saint Francis (PA) made the most of their seven shots with two finding the net for goals. Junior Forward Tesa McKibben, 2010's NEC Player of the Year, scored both of the Red Flash goals, her sixth and seventh of the season. In the 26th minute, McKibben got a shot past SHU goalie Sydney Judkins (South Park, PA.) for the first goal of the day. Within the first ten minutes of the second half, she did it again with an assist from Sophomore Forward Beatriz Maros de Carvalho.
On Sunday, the Pioneers head to Moon Township, PA. to take on Robert Morris University at 11:00 a.m.
