Poirier Picks Up Her Second Consecutive Title; Pioneers Compete at the 2017 Head of the Hooch Regatta

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Sacred Heart women's rowing senior Sarah Poirier won the Women's College and Club Lightweight 1x title this past Sunday at the 2017 Head of the Hooch regatta in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

As SHU wrapped up its fall slate at one of the world's largest rowing regattas, with over 2,100 boats racing over the course of two days, Poirier crossed the finish line in the time of 22:26.36, two minutes ahead of her competition, giving her the second consecutive win in this event.

The day before, Poirier, Anna Sufczynski, Sara Totura, Danielle Varley, and Elisa DeSousa represented the Pioneers in the Women's Championship 4+ as they placed 26th in a field of over 30 competitors racing in a time of 19:41.78.

In the Women's Open 2- on Sunday, senior classmates Totura and Sufczynski slotted 14th to finish the day crediting the time of 21:35.71.

The Pioneers resume their racing season on April 7, 2018 at home welcoming Iona College.
