SHU Rowing Boasts 20 Members on MAAC All-Academic Team

FAIRFIELD, Conn.— The Sacred Heart rowing team had a conference-high 20 student athletes selected to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference All-Academic Team on Thursday afternoon. The Pioneers led the conference with the 20 honorees. 

Earning All-Academic team for the third time are seniors Kelly Brown, Kimberly D'Adamo, Christina Fratto, Meghan Maguire, Shannon Smith, Jennifer Williams and junior Mary Cantwell. Juniors Kalliopi Gatzoflias and Julianna Merighi were selected for the second straight year. Senior Megan Smith, junior Jennifer Hagedorn and sophomores Emina Acee, Lauren Flynn, Julia Francese, Juliana Kimberlin, Courtney Marley, Emily Nedley, Angelina Pagano, Jessica Sweetser, and Emily Tran garnered All-Academic team for the first time.

To be eligible for the MAAC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must complete two semesters at their institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a 4.0 scale. Fairfield University and Marist College both added 15 student athletes on the All-Academic Team. Canisius College and Drake University with 13 student-athletes. Manhattan College added 11 students and both Iona College and Robert Morris University each have 10 student-athletes on the list. Eight student-athletes came from Jacksonville University, and Stetson University rounds out the list with five student athletes.
