FAIRFIELD, Conn. (May 20, 2009) - Sacred Heart's Amanda Williams (Monroe, CT) has been chosen to play in the 2009 Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association / Under Armour North-South Senior All-Star Game on Saturday, June 13th. Williams was the 2009 Northeast Conference Player of the Year after leading the Pioneers to back-to-back NEC Championships.
The 2009 IWLCA Under Armour North-South All-Star game will feature the nation's top-seniors on the Division I, II and III levels. The Division I All-Star game is scheduled for 12:00 pm followed by the Division II game at 1 pm and the Division III game at 2:00 pm. All three games will be played at the United Sports Training Center in Downington, Pennsylvania.
A second team all-conference honoree in each of the last two seasons, Williams become the first Pioneer to earn NEC Player of the Year accolades in 2009. With a break-out season, she emerged as the league's most prolific scorer leading the NEC with 57 goals and 80 points. Both marks set new single-season school Division I records and boosted her career totals to 136 goals and 179 points. Williams ranks 15th nationally in goals scored (57) and 14th in points (80). She is 19th in points per game (4.21) and 24th in goals per game (3.00).
