The Set-Up... The Pioneers start a 7 game road trip traveling to the University of Maine for a weekend series. SHU is coming off a satisfying win against Robert Morris College, a strong club team. But the Pioneers are still in search of their first NCAA win of the season.

History... SHU has dropped 7 straight contests to Maine, including last seasons opener. The Black Bears have won all of the contests between these two clubs decisively. In the 07-08 opener against Maine Gina Arnone netted the only Pioneer goal.

Scouting the Eagles... The Black Bears sit at 1-3-0 for the season after dropping a pair of road games to Minnesota State-Mankato. Maine opened the season with a series split at home against North Dakota. Maine senior Vanessa Vani leads the Black Bears points tally with 2 goals and 2 assists on the young season.

Up Next... The Pioneers will travel to Rhode Island next weekend to take on perennial club opponent Rhode Island. SHU then travels to Syracuse to take on the Orange in their inagural Division I campaign.

Showing Heart... The Pioneers let a three goal lead over Robert Morris College slip away late in the third period Saturady night. But SHU did not fold under the pressure and reclaimed the lead with 2:22 to play on Nicole Palazzo's second goal of the night.

Between the Pipes... The full story of SHU's two freshman goaltenders, Amanda Nagel and Raelene Sydor, is still playing out. Sydor received the start against UConn, now ranked 10th, and she was eventually relieved by Nagel. Nagel got the nod in the first home game of the year but only faced 21 shots as the Pioneers statistically dominated the Eagles.
