Fairfield, CT - The Sacred Heart women's ice hockey team celebrated its season and honored its players at its recent end of season banquet. Senior Michelle Panella (Marlboro, NJ) was named team MVP and all three seniors received honors for their contributions to the program.

Panella finished the season second on Pioneers in scoring with 41 points, including 24 goals and 17 assists.In her four year career Panella totaled 104 goals, 70 assists and 174 points while playing in 122 games. She is the all-time leading scorer in school history. Panella was named as an alternate for the 2007 NCAA Frozen Four Skills Challenge in St. Louis

The Pioneer seniors, Panella, Stephanie Boulay, (Anchorage, AK), and Erin Barry (Pompton Plains, NJ) were all recognized as "Divsion I Builders" for helping to elevate the Pioneer team from Division III to Division I status over the course of their carerers.

For the second straight year, Boulay, won the "Player's Player" award, representing the student-athlete who was the consummate teammate and player. Boulay also was awarded the "Pioneer Award" recognizing the qualities of leadership, character, as what is typical of being a Sacred Heart Pioneer Women's Hockey Player.

Junior Devon Gaslin (Augusta, ME) was named the Most Improved Player. Freshman Kristen Olychuck (Kelowna, BC), sophomores Alexis Dedisious (Scotch Plains, NJ) and Maria Lascala (Chestnut Ridge, NY), and juniors Rachel Mroz (Southington, CT) and Julie Wynohradnyk (Stony Point, NY) were recognized for their academic achievements.
