FAIRFIELD, CT (January 16) - Sophomore women's ice hockey player Michelle Panella (Morganville, NJ) has been named the Sacred Heart Student-Athlete of the week for week of January 10th through 13th.

The sophomore center helped lead the Pioneers to three wins during the week collecting 10 points over that span. After scoring a goal and assisting on the game winning goal on Tuesday night in a 3-2 Pioneer victory over Wesleyan Panella exploded for four points on Friday night vs. Castleton State scoring three goals and adding an assist in a 8-0 Pioneer rout. She would then add four more points in the Saturday afternoon re-match scoring twice and dishing out two assists as the Pioneers rolled over the Spartans for the second consecutive day. She currently leads the team in goals (16), assists (9) and points (25).

Panella, and the rest of the Pioneers, return to action on Friday, January 28 when they host Colby College at the Milford Ice Pavillion. Face off is at 4:00 PM.
