MILFORD, CT (December 7) - The Sacred Heart University women's ice hockey team skated past the Connecticut College Camels Tuesday night at the Milford Ice Pavilion by a final score of 3-1.

Sacred Hearts' Sarah Hickman (Amherst, MA) opened the scoring at the 3:25 mark of the first period sending home a feed from Sarah Turbert (Norwalk, CT). The Pioneers would double their lead on a goal from Erin Guertin (St. Albans, VT) 10:19 into the first stanza. The goal was assisted by Devon Gaslin (Augusta, ME) and Erin Barry (Pompton Hills, NJ).

Sacred Heart would run the lead to 3-0 4:19 into the third period with Nicole Farrelly goal. Her initial shot was turned away by Camels net minder Gabby Petrill (Greensburg, PA), but the momentum carried the puck over the goal line. Hickman and Michelle Panella (Morganville, NJ) assisted on the play.

The Camels would spoil Stephanie Boulay's (Anchorage, AK) shutout bid with 12:40 remaining in the third when Jill Mauer (Millbrook, NY) banged home a rebound for the lone Connecticut College goal. Aly Ridgway (So. Berwick, ME) assisted on the goal.

Boulay finished the night with 30 saves and Petrill ended with 34.

The Pioneers return to action on Tuesday, January 4 when they play host to St. Michaels. Face off is at 3:00 PM.
