Final Stats

Potsdam, NY – Junior forward Brittany Hartman (Prior Lake, MN/Edina) scored off an assist from classmate Taryn Lapierre (Oakland, RI/Mt. St. Charles) 1:17 into the contest on the way to the Pioneers first win of the season.  The Sacred Heart women’s ice hockey team went on to beat SUNY Potsdam 5-2 Friday night.  With the win SHU improved to 1-5 overall, while the Bears dropped to 2-2 for the season.

 

Sophomore Caitlin Gottwald (Reading, MA/St. Mary’s) netted her first goal, from freshman Sarah Delaney (Whittman, MA/Thayer), in the first period.  Lapierre, assisted by senior Kate Dunlop (Flesherton, ON/Clearview Ice Stars), followed with her first goal of the season before the first intermission.

 

Junior Lauren Fontaine (Windsor, ON/Catholic Central) and sophomore Lauren Towers (West Hartford, CT/Hall) added a goal and an assist for the Pioneers, while freshman defender Maura Leahy (Ashburnham, MA/Choate) collected an assist.


 

 

 

In between the pipes, freshman Emily Siira (Cedarburg, WI/Wisconsin Wild) started and earned the win, while giving up one goal.  Sophomore Raelene Sydor (St. Albert, AB/St. Albert-Kal-Tire Slash) gave up one goal in relief of Siira.

 

Sacred Heart and Potsdam faceoff again tomorrow at 2:00 pm.
