Fairfield, CT- Salve Regina’s Caitlin Campbell posted a hat trick and the Seahawks scored five unanswered goals to down the Pioneers 6-2 this weekend. Lauren Fontaine (Windsor, ON) and Kate Dunlop (Flesherton, ON) both found the net for the Pioneers in the loss.
Salve Regina (3-0-0) jumped on the Pioneers early, scoring four minutes into the first period on a Sarah Small goal. The Pioneers (1-5-0) outshot the Seahawks 17-9 in the period but could not find the back of the net. Fontaine opened the scoring 1:30 into the second period to tie the game at one. Assists on the goal went to Brittany Hartman (Prior Lake, MN) and Kristina Hankins (Lexington, MA).
Only thirty seconds later Campbell gave the lead back to the Seahawks with the first of her three goals. The Seahawks scored four more unanswered goals down the stretch despite never totaling double digit shots in any period. Sacred Heart managed 41 shots on goal but was stifled by goaltender Rebecca Simmons who ended the night with 39 saves.
The Pioneers moved the game to 6-2 with 6:30 to play on a marker from Dunlop. Taryn Lapierre (Oakland, RI) and Jaclyn Rideout (Wilmington, MA) both earned assists but it was too little too late.

The Pioneers will look to turn their young season around as they travel to Dudley, MA to take on the Bison of Nichols College. Game time is set for 8:30 on Saturday night.
