BRIDGEPORT, CT - Sophomore Kate Dunlop (Flesherton, ON) scored a pair of goals and the Sacred Heart University women's hockey team exploded for four goals in the third period to take a 5-2 decision over visiting Salve Regina University Tuesday night.

Sacred Heart led 1-0 after one period on a goal by Dunlop, with an assist from freshman Taryn Lapierre (Burrillville, RI) and senior Kate McLaughlin (Hingham, MA). The Pioneers outshot the Seahawks 12-5, but Salve goalie Tasmin-Marie Gosselin (Meriden, CT) was solid in helping kill off three SHU powerplays, including a five-on-three in the final two minutes.

Salve Regina tied the game just over two minutes into the second period on a power play goal by junior Caitlin Campbell (Hingham, MA). Campbell gave the Seahawks the lead with :27 left in the frame with her second power play goal, on an assist from Alex Riewer (Lake Bluff, IL). Salve completely dominated the period, outshooting the Pioneers 13-4.

The Pioneers retook the lead with two goals in the first four minutes of the third period. Dunlop scored her second 2:41 into the period with an assist from McLaughlin to tie it. Junior Whitney Dziama (Walpole, MA) gave the Pioneers the lead at the 4:17 mark. Freshman Lauren Fontaine (Windsor, ON) made it 4-2 with 7:15 left with an assist from junior Gina Arnone (Bridgewater, NJ) and Kristina Feltz (Edison, NJ) on the power play. Arnone put the icing on the cake with a goal with 3:35 remaining from Dziama.

Senior goalie Sarah Perry (Sudbury, MA) made 28 saves to record the win for the Pioneers, now 2-5.
