Women's Hockey Blanks Rhode Island, 3-0

MILFORD, CT - Sacred Heart got power play goals from freshman Sarah Hickman (Amherst, MA), Shannon Murphy (S. Boston, MA) and junior Jane Auxier (Palm Beach Gardens, FL) to help the Pioneers to a 3-0 win over the visiting University of Rhode Island in women's ice hockey action Friday night.
Sacred Heart, 3-6, took a 1-0 lead at 8:34 of the first period on Auxier's goal, with an assist from junior Nicole Farrelly (Windsor, CT/East Catholic). The Pioneers took a 2-0 edge with an unassisted goal by Hickman at 6:35 of the second. Murphy closed out the scoring with her goal at 4:37 of the third.
Sophomore goalie Stephanie Boulay made 19 saves to pick up the shutout, while Lynn Pecci made 29 for the Rams, now 4-5-1.
