Final Stats

ORONO, ME (September 25, 2009) – The Sacred Heart University women’s ice hockey team dropped its opening contest, 9-0, at Maine Friday night.  The Pioneers begin the season 0-1, while the Black Bears start off at 1-0.

 

Junior forward Jennie Gallo recorded a hat trick and an assist to lead the Maine attack against SHU.  Senior forward Jenna Ouellette contributed a goal and a pair of assists.

 

Between the pipes, sophomore goaltender Raelene Sydor (St. Albert, AB/St. Albert-Kal-Tire Slash) stopped 40 shots for the Pioneers.  Sophomore netminder Candice Currier made 16 saves to earn the victory.

 

Maine outshot Sacred Heart 49-16.

 

The Pioneers and Black Bears faceoff again tomorrow at 2:00 pm.
