Bridgeport, CT - Freshman Britanny Rosselle (Pawling, NY) scored two goals and sophomore Gina Arnone (Bridgwater, NJ) added a goal and three assists as Sacred Heart beat Rhode Island, 9-1, on Senior Day Saturday afternoon at the Wonderland of Ice.
Rhode Island took the early lead on a goal by Nicole Ouellette 2:32 into the game. During a scrum in front of the Pioneer net, Ouellette took the loose puck and jammed into the net to give the Rams the advantage.
The duo of Arnone and Roselle combined for two goals late in the first period to give Sacred Heart the lead. At the 9:26 mark, Arnone fed Rosselle a perfect pass through the goal mouth and Rosselle tipped into the net. Then with 1:41 left, Arnone picked up a loose puck in the offensive zone and fired a wrist shot past Rams goaltender Lynn Pecci.
The Pioneers scored six goals in the second period to blow the game wide open. Senior Michelle Panella (Marlboro, NJ) made it 3-1 at the 4:42 mark with a shot from the high slot. Junior Devon Gaslin (Augusta, ME) scored off feeds from Arnone and Rosselle at the six minute mark.
Roselle scored her second goal of the game wt the 8:35 mark. As the Pioneers finished killing off a penalty, sophomore Whitney Dziama (Walpole, MA) hit Rosselle with a perfect up ice pass and Rosselle skated in and put a shot past Pecci.
The Pioneers scored three goals in a 1:57 window late in the second period. Dziama scored a goal of her own with 4:50 left. Just 17 seconds later, freshman Jaclyn Philbin (Lincoln Park, NJ) converted on a pass from sophomore Allie Gillman (Montreal, QC). Then with 2:53 left, sophomore Alexis Dedousis (Scotch Plains, NJ) finished off a scrum in front of the net for a goal. The assists went to senior Erin Barry (Pompton Plains, NJ) and junior Sarah Hickman (Amherst, MA).

The only goal of the third period was a power play tally by Pioneer freshman Jenn Bragger (East Greenwich, RI) at the 2:58 mark. Arnone fed Bragger a pass at the front of the net and she deflected it into the goal.
Sacred Heart dominated the game offensively, out shooting Rhode Island 48-16. Stephanie Boulay (Anchorage, AK) made 15 saves to earn the win in her final appearance on home ice.
The Pioneers close out the season next weekend at the ECAC Open Tournament hosted by St. Michael's. Sacred Heart will face Holy Cross in the semifinals at 6:00 pm Saturday. The championship round is set for Sunday.
