Final Stats

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (February 15, 2008) - Sacred Heart got goals from seven different players Friday night as they skated past the visiting Rhode Island Rams at the Wonderland of Ice. Junior Jaclyn Rideout (Wilmington, MA), sophomore Kate Dunlop (Flesherton, Ontario) and freshmen Tayrn Lapierre (Burrillville, RI) and Lauren Fontaine (Windsor, Ontario) all had a goal and an assist in the win.

The Pioneers (11-17-0) opened a 3-0 lead after the first period on goals by Dunlop, Lapierre and Fontaine. The Rams made it 3-1 after an Ashley Pagliarini power play goal early in the second but SHU made it 4-1 seven and a half minutes in on an unassisted goal by freshman Jackie Galvin (Canton, MA). URI made it 4-2 to close the second as Michelle Paquin scored an unassisted marker of her own with just over 2:30 to play in the period.

Sacred Heart put the game away before the ninth minute in the third as freshmen Kristina Hankins (Lexington, MA) scored off a feed from senior Katelin McLaughlin (Hingham, MA) at 4:41. Rideout made it 6-2 at 8:58 burying a feed from Lapierre. Both teams tacked on another goal before the final horn to produce the 7-3 final.

Senior goalkeeper Sarah Perry (Sudbury, MA) stopped 32 shots on the way to picking up the win in net for Sacred Heart. Rhode Island goalie Nina Goncarova made 37 saves in taking the loss.
 

 

The two teams will face-off once again tomorrow afternoon at the Wonderland of Ice. The puck will drop at 2:00 pm.
