Final Stats

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (February 2, 2007) - The Sacred Heart Pioneers rallied from a three goal deficit but came up just short in their comeback bid as Megan Picinic scored the game winner for Robert Morris with 40 seconds to play for a 4-3 Colonial win Friday night. The Pioneers fall to 9-15-1 overall while RMU improves to 10-15-2.

The Pioneers fell behind 3-0 in the first period as the Colonials racked up a 12-4 shot advantage while netting a pair of power play goals. Alissa Dorman opened the scoring on an unassisted goal at 8:48. The Colonials tacked on power play goals less then a minute apart, scoring at 13:55 and 14:24.

Kathryn Traynor scored on a pass from Morgan Beikirch and Jessica Riley made it 3-0 on assists from Jordan Riley and Dorman.

Sacred Heart got their offense going in the second period as Allie Gillman scored an unassisted tally at 10:15. The rest of the period remained scoreless. The Pioneers kept the heat on in the third period as Gina Arnone scored SHU's second unassisted goal of the game. Arnone lit the lamp at 4:57 to cut the RMU lead to 3-2. Michelle Panella made the comeback complete at the 16:13 mark, burying a pass from Kate McLaughlin.

With the game looking headed for overtime, the Pioneers took a penalty that proved costly in the closing minutes. Devon Gaslin was called for interference at 18:10 and the Colonials wasted little time capitalizing. Picnic scored Robert Morris' third power play goal of the night on a feed from Kristen Miles to send her team home with the 4-3 win.

The Pioneers and Colonials will take the ice again tomorrow afternoon. The puck is set to drop at 2:00 pm at the Wonderland of Ice in Bridgeport, CT.
