Final Stats

Aston, PA - Carly Fitzsimmons and Samantha May each scored two goals as Neumann scored three unanswered third period goals to erase a two goal deficit and hold on for a 5-4 win over Sacred in women's ice hockey action Tuesday night at Ice Works Rink.

The Knights opened the scoring early when Kristen Gauthier scored just 52 seconds into the game. The Pioneers tied the game with 6:05 left in the first when Gina Arnone (Bridgewater, NJ) scored her first of two goals on the night.

SHU took the lead briefly 12:06 into the second on a tally by sophomore Allie Gillman (Montreal, QC). However, May scored for the Knights just two minutes later to tie the game again. Senior Michelle Panella (Marlboro, NJ) gave the Pioneers the lead going into the locker room with a tally with just 42 seconds left in the second.

Arnone netted her second of the night 2:58 into the third period, making the score 4-2 Pioneers. The Knights started their comeback just 30 seconds later when Fitzsimmons scored her first goal, and followed that up with another marker five minutes later to tie the game. May scored the game winner with 4:25 left in regualton.

The Pioneers and Knights close out their series Wednesday afternoon at Ice Works Rink. Face-off is set for 5:00 pm.
