SHELTON, Conn.- The Sacred Heart women's hockey earned a convincing 10-0 win over Neumann on Tuesday night at the Sports Center of Connecticut. The Pioneers scorred three goals in the first period to open up a solid lead going into the second period
SHU showed a lot of variation on offense, with eigth different players finding the back of the net for the 10 goals.
Lexi Edwards opened the scoring for SHU at the 6:59 mark, assisted by Lilly Cleary and Brooke McGreen. Less than a minute later Katie Stueve added the second for SHU assisted by Taylor Morland. Senior Meghan Kebalka extended SHU's lead to 3-0 at the 17:02 mark after good work from Brittany Smith and Olivia Bryant. Bryant was again involved in SHU's fourth, finding the net from Smith for a shorthanded goal to complete the scoring for the first period.
Sacred Heart extended their lead by another two goals in the second period, with a goal from Taylor Moreland, with a great finish after dribbling past the Neumann defense. Moreland was again on hand, this time assisting marissa Letizio to make it 6-0.
The Pioneerswould finish strong in the third period adding another four goals. Bryant assisted by Maddie Bishop would get SHU's seventh goal, with Bishop again tallying an asist for SHU's eighth goal of the night for Victoria Grimmer from Jordan Sanislo on the powerplay.
Edwards would score her second point on the game, this time with a goal at the 9:58 mark of the third after some great work from Lilly Clearly with the assist. Cleary was again involved in SHU's next and last goal of the eveining, this time scoring after Kathryn Darling and Brooke McGreen combined for the asist.
The Pioneers are back in action on Friday Dec. 1 with a 7:00 start at Becker College.
