Dominant SHU win 12-1 on Senior Day

SHELTON, Conn. – Sacred Heart defeated Post University 12-1 in womens's ice hockey action on Saturday on senior day.

SHU got off to a dominate stanrt scoring three first period goals en route to the victory. Brittany Smith opened the scoring for SHU after just 8:18 minutes of play assisted by senior Megan Finley. Julia Consorte would add a second for the SHU at the 15:43 mark and a few minutes later Hannah Sullivan would add the third for the Pioneers off the power play to give SHU a 3-0 lead going into the second period.

SHU would add four more in the second period with Brittany Sullivan getting her second of the game at 9:07. SHU would extend their lead further scoring another three times in quick sucession. Katie Stueve added the fifth for SHU at 12:11 assisted by Jayne lewis before senior Amie Varano added the sixth assisted by Teagan Ketchum. Lilly Cleary completed the scoring in the second period assisted by carly Radovich.

Five goals from the Pioneers in the third would complete a convinsing win the SHU witht he goals coming from Taylor Moreland, Jayne Lewis, Smith, Cleary and Sarah Walewski .

The Pioneers are back in action at the NEHC Tournament Saturday. Feb. 25 at 1 pm
