Women's Hockey Comes Back to Earn 4-4 Tie at Neumann
(Aston, PA) – The Sacred Heart Women's Hockey team scored twice in the third period, coming from behind to earn a tie against the Neumann Knights Sunday afternoon on the road.
Down 4-2 more than halfway into the third, Natasha Klinoff began the comeback with a power play goal, set up by Casey Stathopoulos and Melissa Robbins at 12:11. Robbins then tied the game at 17:31, with Stathopoulos picking the assist.
Robbins gave SHU an early lead with her first of two in the game on the power play at 10:45 of the first. Neumann answered with a game-tying goal by Kelsey Carpenter at 15:51. Stathopoulos gave SHU the lead once again at 10:47 of the second, with Robbins assisting. However, the Knights reeled off three unanswered goals, tying the game at 13:26 on a goal Lauren Cusak.
Neumann went ahead on an unassisted goal at 1:10 of the third, then made it a two-goal lead at 9:53 on a score by Casey Kilduff.
Many Montgomery made 32 saves, including 12 in the third and two in overtime to help SHU comeback and earn the tie.
Robbins finished with four points in the game. She and Stathopoulos both registered six points for the weekend.
