FAIRFIELD, Conn. (October 15, 2008) - Sacred Heart senior Jennifer Tierney (Danbury, CT) was named the Northeast Conference Women's Golfer of the Week announced by the league office Wednesday afternoon.

Tierney picked up her first top-five finish of 2008-09 to lead the Pioneers to a seventh-place standing at the Rutgers Invitational on Oct. 11. The senior fired matching rounds of 77 on the par-72, 6,034-yard layout to come home tied for fifth overall with a two-day total of 154, just seven strokes off the lead. The event featured a field of 91 golfers from 16 institutions, as Tierney bested all league participants from the five NEC schools that competed. This marks the second NEC Golfer of the Week award of Tierney's career as a Pioneer.
