Sacred Heart senior golfer Joanne Martorana received a grant of $500 from the Block by Block grant program of RYASAP for the Mi Amigo Mentoring program she runs in Bridgeport.

Martorana wrote the grant to sustain the monthly enrichment activities for the mentees of the Mi Amigo Mentoring program at Luis Munoz Marin School in Bridgeport. Joanne and Allison Feeley will co-chair the program next year. Mi Amigo mentors work with mentees from grades 2-5 for an hour or two a week during the school year and have monthly enrichment activities together such as a visit from a Beardsley Zoo educator or a children's author.

Joanne will be Sacred Heart Community Connections leaders starting this August.

RYASAP is an urban/suburban youth and community development coalition serving the Greater Bridgeport region, comprised of Bridgeport, Easton/Redding, Fairfield, Monroe, Stratford and Trumbull with local and statewide programs in juvenile justice advocacy, young adult leadership, and asset based youth community development training and consultation.
